If it’s your first time, we want you to feel genuinely welcome.
It doesn’t matter about your background, race, ethnic or economic status, you’ll be welcomed here. We want to help you discover Jesus in an open environment that is safe for those with questions about faith and all kinds of life struggles.
Our worship service begins at 9:00 and lasts about an hour. At the beginning, we always have a time of greeting our visitors (who often out-number our regular members, especially during the tourist season). During the worship service, we offer a nursery for children up to age 2. There is also a “Wee Praise” class for 3-5 year olds during the message portion of the service. At the close of the worship service, we then offer about 15 minutes of open fellowship (and donuts) in the fellowship hall before breaking into classes for adults and children.
Our services include acappella, or “voices only” music. If you know the songs please join us. If you don’t, feel free to listen to the words. We will have prayers led by men in our church. You will not be asked to do anything in front of the crowd.
We have a weekly practice of communion. This is a time to reflect on what the death of Jesus means to us as Christians. We practice “open communion” and invite anyone who is a follower of Jesus to participate with us.
Another weekly practice is taking an offering. If you would like to join us, please feel free to participate. But as our guests, please do not feel any pressure to participate.
Finally, part of our service is a weekly message from our preaching minister, he will use the Bible to teach important truths, especially how we can live our everyday lives to reflect Jesus.
One big question about church is always, “What do I wear?” At Destin we are a diverse church family and are blessed by many visitors. We realize we are a beach community; you will see some people dressed in a coat and tie but you will also see shorts, tee shirts and flip flops. Be yourself–we are more interested in your presence than what you are wearing.
